Philosophy & Commitment

I have a collaborative approach and look at my clients, colleagues, and community as key team members in this work. I use a strength-based approach and ecological perspective, and know the integral role of systems and intersectional identities. I am rooted and driven by my focus of racial justice, empowerment, and being in community.

Racial Justice

Using power and privilege to dismantle racist policies and practices

Reflecting on biases and harmful social work practices with a continual commitment to unlearn them

Identifying unjust norms and holding ourselves and others accountable in restorative practice

Empowerment

Revealing strengths in individuals, communities, and organizations to foster meaningful change

Countering inequitable systems to reframe and heal internalized oppression and generational trauma

Interrupting the deliberate silence supported by whiteness by speaking truth to power

Community

Developing bonds between people and environments allowing everyone to thrive as their authentic selves

Organizing through activism to challenge the individualistic narratives that separate us

Revisiting our human purpose to care for others and our need to be cared for
